I've been thinking about what things I'd like to get in 2006 with my Christmas moneys. I haven't really decided on what to get, but here are the things that I'm thinking of.
I stay away from Bose headphones, just my humble opinion, you can e-mail if you want to hear more about that. Go to http://www.headphone.com/ They have a great selection of cans and decent reviews.
Airport Express is a thumbs up.
PowerBook is a thumbs up but I'd wait for the new Intel stuff. I like my 12 inch sans the hard drive noise when I move it. Keep in mind the 12 inch does not have a pcmcia slot or a backlite keyboard.
That's my 2 cents.
Posted by: -craigt at January 1, 2006 07:08 PMDid you kill the 17" version of the Powerbook? That baby looks sweeeeeet...
I have an Airport Express and it's the cat's pajamas.
Posted by: Bill at January 1, 2006 07:17 PMWe have 3 or 4 pair of Sennheiser phones in different models. They all rock.
Waiting for the new Intel hardware, then get a 15" pb. Seventeen inch is beautiful, but it's like carrying around a boogie board.
Airport Express: I echo Bill's comment. When we travel it's a super easy, fast, and portable wireless network in the hotel room. At home it serves as a wireless point for printing and of course you can stream iTunes to your sound system.
I haven't ruled out the 17 in model powerbook... but I fear Khyman's comment... I want a laptop... and my lap just ain't 17 inches wide. But we'll see how it goes. I will probably visit the UCLA book store and see what deals they have in stock. I suspect with the imminent release of the Intel macs, the current ones will be discounted... and I'm not sure what an Intel chip really gets me. Why should I wait for an Intel version?
Posted by: Dave at January 1, 2006 09:33 PMPersonally, have had terrible luck with wireless Sennheiser headphones, but the wired ones have a great reputation.
Here's what I did get (from others, and for myself) for the holidays: http://blog.benjolo.com/archives/2006/01/03/the-hanukkah-haul/
Only thing I should add to that is the plan to buy a treadmill in January... sigh.
