UFC 60

Overall, an underwhelming UFC 60. The first few fights went extremely quick, as did the main event — Royce Grace v. Matt Hughes.

After winning UFC 1, 2, & 4, Gracie had come back to prove he could roll with the fighters of today. That, and allegedly to collect a 1.4 million paycheck. Hughes dominated the entire fight, eventually winning via a TKO. It could have been worse for Gracie — he was in an arm-bar midway through, and it was pretty clear that Royce was not going to tap out — he was going to make Hughes literally break his arm first.

The highlights of the night came from John Alessio carrying around Diego Sanchez on his back for the last two minutes of round three, Diego showering his head with blows the entire time, and Spencer Fisher KO’ing Matt Wiman via a flying knee.

It was a good break-in of the new tv. Now they just need to start broadcasting PPV in HD…

A 1.4 million paycheck? I’m stunned; had no idea fighting was that lucrative. Gosh, the way my sister and I used to fight, I should’ve been a billionaire by now. lol

Dont you think it looked like Royce took a dive?? I mean heres a guy that has been doing jui-jitsu for 35+ yrs he must know at least 10 escapes for the side mount and rear mount yet he didnt try one??? Something stinks in the state of the UFC.

even though matt hughes is a beast, gracie did look to go down way to easy. is ufc and pride going to be controlled by gambling, just like boxing. i’m also sick of hearing silvia talking about being the best heavy weight in the world, if you saw the fights between him and arlovski. you know he is not even in that caliber the only reason he won the second fighjt is because he got a lucky punch to arlovskis throat. besides if you want to claim to be the best, you might want to fight the best( the undefeated pride heavyweight champ FEDOR) if you know mma you know who i’m talking about.
