Etrade is at it again. My direct deposit hasn't been posted for a day. After waiting for 20 minutes, the nice lady says "Oh yeah, nobody's has been posted. It's a big problem and we're working on it."

No shit, big problem.

I have two coverdell IRA accts for my two sons at etrade. On Jan 24,2006, I dropped by ETrade Chicago service center and gave two checks ($2000.00 each) to the ETrade representative and wanted the fund to be put into my sons' IRA accts. The checks was cashed on Jan 25, but the fund was not showed up in the IRA acct. I called their customer service and waited forever and no one answered. So Feb 1, I dropped by their Chciago service center again. They found the original checks in their office. They told me that their scanner had problem so the fund did not get into my accts. It seemed they didn't care. Had I not dropped by, I would haven't nvever seen my fund into my IRA. I asked why those checks got cashed, they explained they did some kind of electrical transaction. OK, they said their scanner was working, they are going to do scan those checks again and make the fund into the IRA accts. I told them I had a concern that my checks would be cashed twice. They said that wounldn't happen. Well guess what, this morning (Feb 4), I checked my bank acct and found out my checks got cashed again!!! ETRADE SUCKS! IT WATES MY TIME AND ENERGY!!!

Well, today I got a response from E*TRADE and they have refunded the $24.95 commission, and then some. I'm satisfied. I posted the email here: http://www.bronosky.com/index.php?p=30

Yeah, that was lame. Don't tell me my password is wrong when it's your system that is having trouble. Luckily I was busy so it got fixed before I had a chance to call them.

I got an errormessage on etrade.com when I tried to sell last month. No explaination if the sell went through. I tried again a few minutes later. Same error message. Next morning(!) I got two confirmation emails. Thanks very much, but I surely didn't want to sell the same amount of stock twice in the same minute/second. I learnt my lession, never retry/refresh a sell.

Awww, poor baby. What's 15 minutes of your time worth - $2.50? Joe Grossberg said it best.

It's not a "Boo hoo." It is a major problem. I was trying to sell the stock I had purchased through the ESPP and their site was down for over an hour. I spent 55 minutes on hold after suffering many transfers and disconnects. By the time I got someone to sell my shares I had lost $0.38 per share. That was not a billion dollars, but on the amount of shares I was selling it was more than I am comfortable with. If my bank lost that much of my money because of a computer glitch I'd be in my branch manager's office with the door closed. Maybe even in the lobby with an "elevated" voice depending on his resolution to the problem.

Yeah, it's lame, but dag man ... get some perspective.

All you were doing was checking the status of an account, not making some billion-dollar trade for a hedge fund that had to be executed *that second*.

So, you wasted 15 minutes on the phone. Boo hoo.

If that's "massive suckage", you have a great life and don't appreciate it.

Oh boy, don't get me started. Etrade is just an amazingly crappy company! Particularly their small-print obnoxious "account maintenance" fees, even when there's practically nothing being maintained!
