Gasp! Heresy!

I come only to speak the truth. I say again:
FreeBSD sucks.

I have to say… I’m more torn on this than I’ve ever been. Before Mac OSX, I *definitely* agree FreeBSD sucks. It might be really stable and all, but I need to install a “port” of all software. That’s freakin’ annoying. Why does the whole world need to be ported to work on an os?
Having said that, my mac is awesome. so, freebsd has made something of a come-back in my mind. but, as a developer… i’d *never* pick freebsd if i had a choice.

FreeBSD is the “rawk”est OS i ever met. port make everything so ez to use. BTW, if u dont like port, u can use ready-made package instead.
It all reside in your installation CD. And if you want more.. u can get em from FreeBSD official web. FreeBSD rawk!

comparing Gentoo Linux, Windows XP Pro, and FreeBSD, I’d definitely have to say that FreeBSD sucks royally. Windows XP Pro and Gentoo Linux both rock, but in different ways; Gentoo Linux offers exceptional command line and configuration options, and is very very fast, whereas Windows XP Pro is untouchable in terms of its GUI and the quality of the software that runs on it. My experience with FreeBSD has been disappointing and a complete letdown, particularly after the hype I’d read about it (for example, “If Yahoo! servers use FreeBSD, it must be a good OS”). Besides the crappy colorless default shell, many of the ports are broken. My opinion, stick with using both Gentoo Linux and Windows XP Pro for desktop applications (on a dual-boot, combining them with VMware); If using a server, go with Gentoo Linux, for its exceptional speed. Windows servers are easy to set up but suck in terms of speed. FreeBSD may be a good server OS, but it’s such a lousy OS in general, that I wouldn’t want to waste any more time with it.
I won’t even comment on Macs, since they suck even more than FreeBSD. In fact, I think Mac OS is possibly the worst OS ever. It’s like Windows for dummies, but worse, because it’s built on top of the crappy BSD kernel.
In conclusion, FreeBSD is dead. Apple OS is a joke which is only taken seriously by the computer illiterate and mentally challenged. Gentoo Linux and Windows are the future.
peace out.

Suck a dick. FreeBSD is the cleanest OS out there. Its designed and refined, not hacked (Linux) or kicked out the door (M$). Mac OS X is simply beautiful.

Get a grip. Darwin sucks. Gentoo rules.
Speaking of hacked, look at what those dorks at apple did with the mach kernel. They turned it into a function call library for the BSD code. They quit using the Mach message passing. Hence, it probably doesn’t work anymore.
It’s junk. Plain and simple. I guess they didn’t use Linux because they couldn’t afford to edit all their crappy BSD programs. The other BSD’s are mostly crap, NetBSD and FreeBSD. OpenBSD is passable as a network appliance.

Yeah. Couldn’t install FreeBSD. Again, just like last year.
Oh yeah, gotta be my fault. that’s fine. My server farm is happy with Redhat and WHEL. FreeBSD lines the dustbin. Again.

If you are complaining about FreeBSD and ports, it’s because you have no expertise, and your skills suck. Ports don’t make an OS. Ports are a convenience. You should learn how to compile from source. You must be some of those point & click users. FreeBSD rules, suckers!!!
p.s.: some other OS’s are nice, too…except winbloze

Linux is Unix for the people. FreeBSD is Unix for hardcore techies, and definitely not a OS to have fun with.
FreeBSD sucks!

“FreeBSD sucks.”
Translated: You have neither the brain power nor patience to use a rock-solid os.

“Gentoo rules.”
Where did gentoo get its portage system from again?
—-
“It might be really stable and all, but I need to install a “port” of all software.”
Ever hear of packages?

“Besides the crappy colorless default shell, many of the ports are broken.”
Ahem. cvsup.

“In fact, I think Mac OS is possibly the worst OS ever. It’s like Windows for dummies, but worse, because it’s built on top of the crappy BSD kernel.”
Idiocy.

Strange. I’m having fun. Amazing how far a little patience and reading can go.

some retards here. what is freebsd designed to do, exceptionally well? It isnt made to be easy to install, so that dumbasses who use redhat, of all things available, can install it just to be dumbasses later inside bsd. you want colorful shell? add one you fucking tard…
you idiots are fucking stupid…

FreeBSD is by far and away the most stable, secure and reliable OS I’ve ever used. I’ve got a colourful, elegant desktop set up as I wish and all the applications I need. The Internet connection worked immediately. When I’ve had troubles or questions I read the documentation that comes with the installation not to mention all the information available on the web. It’s unlikely I’ll ever look back.

Well, I might be a bit late for this. However, the *BSDs and Linux are still superior to Windows. Not just in stabilty, but also the freedoms that you enjoy using Open Source software.
Uptime: 84 days. Can your Windows PC do that?
November 19th, 2006 at 12:26 am
FreeBSD is truly an awsome OS, as is OpenBSD and MacOSX.
However, shame on all those who say Windows is unstable….
My WinXP Server: -
\\xxx has been up for: 446 day(s), 11 hour(s), 51 minute(s), 39 second(s)
Beat that linux turds.

How many linux boxes do you see on that list?
0.

FreeBSD does “suck” for a desktop system - but I don’t think the developers are really concentrating on it or mean for it to be one anyways. - As a server FreeBSD is very solid and quick.
If you want a Unix like system for the desktop.. Linux all the way.
