Fight!
Tonight was once again fight night at Brandon’s for UFC 51. I think I’m starting to like UFC more than boxing because boxing is more or less straight punching whereas with UFC there’s some good grappling worked in too. Wrasslin’ == good.
I think I might have come around on Tito Ortiz. He seemed more sizzle than steak, a theory advanced after watching Chuck Liddell pound the snot out of him a few months ago. Tonight, however, he walked the walk outlasting Victor. (I didn’t know Vitor beforehand, but would have lost any respect I might have had for him, him essentially having quit the right somewhere in round 2 and seemed open to the concept of just lying there & getting wailed on.)
The next UFC should be outstanding, featuring a rematch between Chuck and Randy Couture for the light heavyweight title. Two total badasses going at it. I like them both, but I’m personally pulling for Randy. 41 years old and still able to wipe the mat with any of these young punks. Gotta love that.
Tonight might have also been the final nudge Sang & I needed to start attending Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu. Especially since there’s a Machado academy a stone’s throw from work & our respective homes. Finally bullies will no longer be able to take our lunch money and kick sand in our faces at the beach!

I’ve been a fan since the mid 90’s. Basically, Vitor came onto the scene in a fury. Later years, he’s not lived up to his potential. Great physical skills, but his head seems to be out of the game these days. Chuck put him on his butt, Randy smoked him, and now Tito too. Randy will school Chuck again. They don’t call him Captain America for nothing.
