Cat People Frighten Me

Oddly mesmerising…
For the record, getting the flu the morning you head to Vegas
for one of your best friend’s wedding sucks. Having it reach
full-intensity at the reception? Even more so.
Ugh. In the last 48
hours I’ve eaten a cut of steak (after which I got nauseous) and about
300 gallons of orange juice.
Today wasn’t as bad as last night and on the upside, I’m home now and
bed is looking mighty tempting. A few things to get done for work
tomorrow, but after that it’s beddy-bye for me.
Odd thing, I never used to get sick. The last time I really got sick
was about six years. I remember it well because it when I was
supposed to be moving from one apartment to another with Sang & Geoff,
and awesome buddies that they are, they moved most of my stuff for me
while I laid in a cold sweet in bed. (I think for that I have eternal
moving obligations.)
Saw quite a few political ads in that swing state of Nevada. At one
point there were three back-to-back-to-back pro-Kerry ads and on
Fox to boot. One of them I found surprisingly interesting &
direct. More on that latter.
Tonight should have been Bush’s home-court advantage, the focus being
Iraq, Terrorism, and so on. He seems to have squandered it. Some of
it isn’t too surprising. Despite what Gore
may think, Bush’s strength isn’t oration. Kerry did an excellent job,
especially going after Bush on Iraq without appearing overly negative.
Bush failed to capitialize on any of Kerry’s missteps or bring out any
strong cases for himself in the general area.
Personally, I was disappointed at the lack of substance. Not
surprised, but still disappointed. Kerry said multiple times he had a
plan, but I failed to understand what it was. Even after reading his
website,
I’m not sure how it differs from anything we’re doing right now. Part of what feeds into why my vote will probably stay with Bush.
The coming days should reveal the impact of the debate. Interesting
days on http://www.electoral-vote.com/
for sure. Up until the Republican Convention I was pretty sure Bush
was going to lose, but he came out of it with a fair bit of momentum.
Wonder if Kerry will be able to swing it his way after tonight.
