Random Bits
Saw Conway the other night at LA.pm.
The talk was “Sufficiently Advanced Technologies”, a version of which I
had heard at OSCON. Hearing it again wasn’t so bad, as there was some
new content and other pieces I had forgot, but the lead-in bit, a bit
about Harry Potter that goes on for quite some time, was a bit much
the second time around.
My youngest brother flies out to Sunnyvale Thursday for an interview
with the home team on Friday. He has a
standing offer from the other
guys, as well as a few others & it’ll be interesting to see which
one he’s chooses. I’m trying to minimize my influence as older
brother. :-)
Interesting dilemma at work. So that they’re easier to receive, Sang
was having his wedding gifts sent to him in his name at work.
However, since he’ll be out of town for the next two weeks, he changed
the addressee to be my name, so the kind mail room folks at work will
tell me when there’s a new package & I can stack ‘em up at home. No
biggie. Only problem is that I recently had a birthday and I have no
idea which packages are addressed to me & really intended for me versus
which ones are really intended for Sang & Carrie. Hmmm… I’ve always
need some fine china anyway.
Okay, so time to stop procrastinating. Have some work that I really don’t
want to do and have been avoiding all day. But the deadline is
tomorrow (actually it was extended from today), so grah, time
to finish it up.
